NATIVE AMERICAN HEAD On his right biceps he has a Cherokee Indian Chief to honor his Indian heritage, he was 17 (1946).

HEART AND BETTY SUE On his left upper arm, a heart with his mother’s name- Betty Sue. (1988)

WINO FOREVER On his upper right arm, a tattoo dedicated to his ex girlfriend Winona Ryder, the tattoo said “Winona forever”. Then he changed to “Wino forever”.

INVERTED TRIANGLE Over the heart with his mother’s name. Political meaning to Johnny.

BRAVE SYMBOL from his movie The Brave. (1998)

THREE RECTANGLES On his right index finger. He described them as “permanent phone doodles”.  

NUMBER 3 located on his left hand. “Three is a sort of special number for me. it is a very creative number. Triangle, trinity- you know, two people make another person. Three is mystical, magical number” taken from the Young Fix Magazine in April 1996.


LILY ROSE Melody is the name of his daughter; he keeps that tattoo very close to his heart.

JACK AND FLYING BIRD On his right forearm, taken from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean.

SKULL AND CROSSEDBONES On his lower right leg, below “death is certain”.

QUESTION MARK On the right leg over the ankle, it is also a symbol of The Brave.

GONZO FIST On the front of his left shin. It appeared while filming Pirates of the Caribbean 4. (2010)

3 SMALL DOTS On his left ankle. Appeared while filming Pirates of the Caribbean- The Curse of the Black Pearl.
